7.3.11.4 Workflow with the Glass Database

2 minutesread

When the Glass Database opens, the existing Glass Type and properties will be displayed in the Chart.  Select a substitute Glass Type from the list displayed and using the arrow button, apply this to the glazed element or Surface.

If this construction type is in Revit’s internal list, it will update the element immediately.  If this construction type is new and not already in Revit, the new properties will appear when Revit is closed and re-launched.  This allows the application to update Revit’s list of Construction Types.  As new glass types populate the list in Revit, these will load faster in subsequent sessions.

Current Glass Type is indicated in the Chart and may be changed using this function

Note: You may also adjust the filters to view more Glass Types in the list.

Note: VLT = Visual Light Transmittance

SHGC = Solar Heat Gain Coefficient

U-value = Indicator of Heat Loss through an element

Current Glass Type is indicated in the Chart and may be changed using this function

You may go ahead and apply a Glass Type and when the results update, you may revisit the Surface if it needs further improvement.
